HIGH PERFORMANCE (Hockey) INTERNSHIP

Irish Hockey have an exciting opportunity for an undergraduate or postgraduate to develop and expand their knowledge and gain practical experience of elite sports administration working with the Irish Hockey’s High Performance team. 

The opportunity will exist for either a 9-12 month training term depending on individual circumstances.  This training position would suit an undergraduate or postgraduate with a Sports Management or Sports Science background who wants to gain experience of working in this area.

Roles:

The role will be developed to suit the individual’s background and experience but will most likely include but not limited to the following:

• Support the implementation of national team programs and facilities management

• International tournament and event management

• Facilitate regional training and sports science sessions

• Support the implementation and management of sports science support to national junior teams

• Support to national team managers with all aspects of camp and tour development (as required)

• Development of High Performance area of website 

Qualities:

• Drive and ambition

• Understanding of elite sport, sports management or sports science

• High level of inter personal and organisational skills

• Computer literacy

• Independent and have the ability to work on own initiative and possibly off site

• Attention to detail

Other Details:

• The successful applicant will work in the IHA Office in University College Dublin

• This position is considered as a training position and as such there will be a small subsistence grant

• This position would be line managed by the High Performance Director
