Welcome to the CROWDFUNDING section of the Irish Men's Hockey webpage. Here we are looking to use an INNOVATIVE new method of FUNDRAISING to attract cash contributions through the "wisdom of the crowd"!

What is Crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is about communicating with as large a network of people as possible to encourage multiple contributions to enable a particular project to be realized. It is usually promoted through use of social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Email and Webpages.

Why is Irish Men's Hockey "Crowdfunding"?

We, as players, want to realize a dream - to achieve as high as posisble position in the European Championships in Germany this coming August, and to make history in qualifying for the Olympic Games in London 2012.

14 players made the decision to move their lives abroad and play professionally this season. Players themselves have already made cash contributions of over €18,000 (Euro). However, budgetary cuts and cash shortages have threatened to cut our required preparation program.

To be able to prepare ourselves for the task ahead, we need to raise funds. Crowdfunding is an innovative way to allow us to connect with as many sports and hockey enthusiasts as possibe who would like to support us in our program. We would like to appeal to both individuals and businesses alike to make such a contribution.

What exactly will my contribution be used for?

Funds will be used for:

• Investment in innovative physical conditioning methods
• Further investment in mental strength training (Coaching Unity)
• Travel overseas to play test matches against Europe's best teams
• Summer training camps

What do I get for my contribution?

For contributions of €10 - €50

• Your name will appear on our List of Contributors on our site!

For contributions of €100 - €250

• You will be entered into a draw to win a Samurai Irish Men's playing shirt signed by the players as a token of our appreciation!
• Business Contributions: for donations of €250 your business will be listed on our site as a click-through to your business's home page.

For contributions of €500 - €1000:

• You are making a massive difference to our summer preparations! You will receive a signed Samurai Irish Men's playing shirt, and be granted free entry into our 4 Nations matches this summer in Belfield, UCD, where we take on China, France and Pakistan!
• Business Contributions - you will also receive space on our website for your logo and a click-through link to your business's home page. Your business will receive exposure through squad Twitter accounts and Facebook pages, providing access to not just the hockey community, but tens of thousands of other social media users!
