Update on Rules & Regulations 2012 2013   13/09/2012

The changes to the Irish Cup Competition rules and regulations for 2012-13 were agreed by the Board at the weekend and can be found here

The key changes for the season are summarized below:

  • Irish Hockey has standardized on 2 period of 5 minutes, Silver Goal to decide matches that end in a draw (Irish Cup). Note, if the game is still level, a penalty stroke competition follows (no change)
  •  All entrants to the Junior /Trophy /Challenge must nominate an umpire to umpire an equivalent match within their home province in the early rounds (this is to ease the pressure on umpiring resources)

In addition, the eligibility rules have been changed to clarify that In order to be allowed play for a club in IHA Competitions every bona fide member of a club wishing to play in an IHA Competition must have played for their club by December 1st in the current season or have played for their club in the preceding season.

By way of reminder as per an earlier notification, Irish Cup competitions will be played under the new FIH Rules 2013 and also the Green Card Suspension Experimental Rule (see website) quick link here.

All clubs entering an Irish Cup competition should ensure they are familiar with the Rules & Regulations for the competition which can be found on this page of the website.
