Ireland's men took on Wales tonight in round 1 of their first ever World League the new route to the World Cup 2014. Ireland need to finish in the top two to progress through to World League 2 and tonight they got off to a great start with a 5-0 win over hosts Wales on night that also saw Ulsterman John Jackson secure his 100th cap.
Marksman John Jermyn kick started proceedings early on when he draged high to the left side giving the boys in green a 1-0 lead. Ireland doubled their lead again through a set piece this time with defender Conor Harte stepping up to drag home making it 2-0 before half time.
Ireland continued with the same momentum through the final thirty five and it was Jonathon Bruton whomade it three for Ireland finishing off a great run. Just eight minutes later Timmy Cockram scored a cracking reverse stick shot from the left of the circle firing home past the keeper to make it 4-0, before Bruton was on hand once again to score his second and Ireland's 5th.
