Senior WOMEN: Scotland 1-0 Ireland
23 July 2010
The first of the 3 test series went to Scotland when they scored the only goal of the game with a penalty corner strike in the 40th minute. Emma Clarke captaining the team on her 96th cap was impressive throughout controlling midfield and together with fellow senior players Shirley McCay and Alex Speers drove the young irish team forward. Irish Coach Gene Muller commented It was a very even match with both teams creating quality chances we had 5 players on debut and they al played very well for their first caps. We played at a high level for long periods and I am very encouraged by this.
